Dr Aitchison specialises in Internal Medicine, and is based at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital in Roodepoort. They offer a broad range of services, such as chronic disease management, lifestyle and weight loss management, care for persons living with HIV (including PrEP), and medical services for the LGBTQ+ community. Using the latest guidelines and focusing on holistic care, Dr Aitchison's special interests include HIV care, clinical haematology, nephrology, critical care, and transgender health and medicine.

Dr Aitchison obtained their undergraduate degree and medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, and then went on to obtain postgraduate diplomas in both Primary Emergency Care and HIV Management, both from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. They also graduated with a Masters of Medicine in Internal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the College of Physicians of South Africa.
